Should I Choose LED Screens Or LCD Screens
When we talk about television screens, computer monitors, note book displays and tablets, we can be sure there is one thing in common. The use transistors or liquid crystal displays for throwing out picture and images. This is what LCD is all about. The same technology is also use for LED TVs and LED computer monitors. We will over the next few lines try and find out the basic differences between the two types of technologies in Visual Impact Productions. Both use back lights for displaying images and pictures. However there are some basic differences in the technology that is use for such display purposes.
Technology Used In LCD Display Units
When we talk about LCD units we are looking at two common attributes. First and foremost they use flat monitors. Even St. Paul LED Screens monitors are flat but in case of LCD the back light is made from CCFL which stands for Cold cathode fluorescent lamps. This technology allows the right back lighting which is essential for displaying the images. However CCFL technology is quite old and today LED is becoming more popular.
Why Is LED Technology So Very Popular
Though the quality of picture in LCD TVs is quite good over the past few years there has been a gradual and definite shift towards LED technology. Whether it is TV, computer monitors, smart phones, tablets or iPhones there is a perceptible shift towards LED lighting and illuminating systems. When we talk about LCD we are referring to fluorescent lamps which use mercury as the base material. Mercury is not environment friendly and causes damage to the atmosphere and the ozone layer. This is one of the main reason why many manufacturers shifted to LED technology. It will not be long before fluorescent lamps are phases out and replaced by LED lamps.
Extremely Energy Efficient
Another reason why manufacturers and customers are shifting towards LED is because they are extremely energy efficient when compare to other display systems. This is because LED monitors and screens use diodes instead of lamps. This results in conservation of energy and could lead to energy savings equivalent to 50% or even more.
They Require Little Maintenance
Compare to LCD, LED TVs require much less maintenance and upkeep. Even repairing and renewal costs are much lower. LED monitors have longer life and therefore offer better value for money. When all the above factors are taken into account there hardly is any reason not to choose LED over other models and brands of televisions. If there is one inhibiting factor it is the initial cost of LED appliances. On a rough estimate LED TVs will cost at least 50% to 60% more when compared to LCD and other types of TVs. But on a long term perspective LED are always better.
