The LED technology is quite complex and uses light emitting diodes by the thousands. They are affixed with the help of epoxy resins. When electricity flows to the diodes the images are displayed and illumination takes place. Hence the amount of light that is shared and thrown out by LED is always much better when compared to LCD. This makes the contrast also much better when compared to LCD and other conventional modes of lighting and imaging in televisions.

They Are Energy Efficient

Another big reason why thousands of customers might be shifting to LED is because of energy savings. On a rough estimate the energy savings could be to the tune of 30% to 40% and this when looked at from a long term perspective could be big money running into hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Further the cost of maintaining LED screens is much lower because there is no need to replace the entire fluorescent lamps which is the case with LCD lamps.

However, there are some deficiencies with regard to LED screens. First and foremost, it is a relatively new technology and not much is known of it to many customers. Further when it comes to viewing on the edges, there are many who feel that LED has some bit of catching up to even when compared to CRT monitors.
